Overview
The Daily Report is the most comprehensive business snapshot available in GSK POS. It provides a complete overview of your business performance for any selected date range, displaying all critical metrics in one professional, printable dashboard.
This report is ideal for:
- Daily business reviews - Track today's performance
- Period analysis - Compare week-over-week or month-over-month
- Management reporting - Share business KPIs with stakeholders
- Financial planning - Monitor profitability and cash flow
Accessing the Daily Report
**From the Dashboard:**
- Click "Reports" in the main navigation menu
- Select "Daily Report" from the reports menu
- The report loads with today's date by default
**From the Sidebar:**
Navigate to: Reports → Daily Report
Report Interface
**Filter Controls**
At the top of the report, you'll find the filter area:
Date From: Select the start date for your report
Date To: Select the end date for your report
Load Button: Apply the selected date range
Print Button: Print the report (hides filters, shows clean printable version)
Default Behavior:
- On first load, the report shows today's data (From: today, To: today)
- You can select any custom date range
Understanding the Report Sections
The Daily Report contains 10 major sections that provide a complete business overview:
1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
This section displays 9 essential metrics in card format:
**Stock Value Metrics**
📦 Opening Stock Value
- The total value of inventory at the start of the selected period
- Calculated using: `Closing Stock Value + (Cost of Sales + Downward Adjustments) - Purchases`
📦 Closing Stock Value
- The total value of inventory at the end of the selected period
- Reflects your current stock worth based on buying prices
**Sales Metrics**
💰 Total Sales (Revenue)
- Total revenue from all sales (cash + credit) during the period
- This is the selling price total, not profit
💵 Cash Sales
- Revenue from sales paid immediately in cash
- Includes all instant payment methods (cash, mobile money, cards, bank)
💳 Credit Sales
- Revenue from sales made on credit
- Customer will pay later (tracked in customer accounts)
**Purchase Metrics**
🛒 Total Purchases (Cost)
- Total cost of all stock purchased during the period
- Represents money spent to acquire inventory
**Expense & Profit Metrics**
💸 Expenditures
- Total business expenses recorded during the period
- Includes utilities, salaries, rent, transport, etc.
📊 Profit (Markup)
- Gross profit from sales before expenses
- Calculated as: `(Selling Price - Buying Price) × Quantity Sold`
- Green if positive, Red if negative
🏦 Net Profit
- Final profit after deducting all expenses
- Calculated as: `Profit (Markup) - Expenditures`
- Green if positive, Red if negative
- This is your actual take-home profit
2. Deposits
This section tracks money received and paid:
👥 Customer Deposits
- Total payments received from customers on their credit sales
- Money coming INTO your business
🚚 Deposits to Suppliers
- Total payments made to suppliers on credit purchases
- Money going OUT of your business
3. Transactions Removed (Undone)
❌ Total Removed
- Total value of sales transactions that were removed/undone during the period
- Helps track reversed sales (e.g., returns, errors, cancellations)
4. Outstanding Balances
This section shows your credit position at the start and end of the period:
**Credit Sales (Customer Balances)**
Opening Balance
- Total amount customers owed you at the start of the period
- Customers who bought on credit and haven't fully paid
Closing Balance
- Total amount customers owe you at the end of the period
- If higher than opening: More credit sales or fewer payments received
- If lower than opening: More customer payments received
**Credit Purchases (Supplier Balances)**
Opening Balance
- Total amount you owed suppliers at the start of the period
Closing Balance
- Total amount you owe suppliers at the end of the period
- If higher than opening: More credit purchases or fewer payments made
- If lower than opening: More supplier payments made
5. Business Performance
This section provides growth and trend analysis:
**🚀 Business Growth Rate**
- Compares current period sales to the previous month
- Shows percentage growth or decline
- Green for positive growth
- Red for negative growth
- N/A if no previous data available
Example:
- This month sales: 5,000,000 UGX
- Last month sales: 4,000,000 UGX
- Growth Rate: +25% ✅
**Sales Drop Detection**
- Compares current period to the same period last year
- Alerts you to significant drops (e.g., over 20% decline)
- Red flag 🚩 if sales dropped significantly
- Green checkmark ✅ if no significant drop
6. Top 10 Products Sold

- Set From: 1st of the month, To: Last day of the month

Printing the Report
**How to Print:**
- Set your desired date range
- Click Load to generate the report
- Click the Print button
- The filter area automatically hides
- Your browser's print dialog opens
- Adjust print settings as needed
- Print or save as PDF

Possible Causes:
- Stock adjustments not recorded
- Buying prices not updated

- Run a Stock Adjustment Report to verify

- Contact support if values still don't match
**Issue: Profit is negative**
Meaning:
- Your selling prices were lower than buying prices, OR
- Your expenses exceeded your profit margin
Solution:
- Review product pricing
- Check if expenses are too high for the period
- Analyze which products are selling at a loss
**Issue: Growth rate shows N/A**
Meaning:
- No sales data from the comparison period (previous month)
Solution:
- This is normal if you just started using the system
- Growth rate will appear once you have historical data
