Overview
Multi-unit products let you manage items that come in multiple measurement levels. Instead of tracking "Cartons" OR "Pieces" separately, GSK POS handles products that can be measured in Cartons, Dozens, AND Pieces simultaneously - with automatic conversions between them!
๐ก Game Changer: Buy in bulk (Cartons), sell in retail (Pieces), track everything accurately - all automatic!
Understanding Measurement Levels
Many products come in hierarchical measurements. For example:
๐ฆ Beverages Example
- Level 1 (Largest): 1 Carton
- Level 2 (Medium): 1 Carton = 24 Bottles
- Level 3 (Smallest): Each Bottle is the base unit
Result: 1 Carton = 24 Bottles
๐ Pharmaceuticals Example
- Level 1: 1 Box
- Level 2: 1 Box = 10 Strips
- Level 3: 1 Strip = 10 Tablets
Result: 1 Box = 10 Strips = 100 Tablets

How Automatic Conversions Work
Example 1: Simple Two-Level
๐ฅค Soft Drink
Setup: 1 Carton = 24 Bottles
Scenario 1 - Buying:
- You buy: 5 Cartons
- GSK POS tracks: 5 Cartons = 120 Bottles
- Stock shows: 5 CTN + 0 Bottles
Scenario 2 - Selling:
- Customer buys: 30 Bottles
- GSK POS calculates: 30 Bottles = 1 Carton + 6 Bottles
- New stock: 3 Cartons + 18 Bottles (4 CTN - 1 CTN - 6 Bottles)
You see both views:
- Total: 90 Bottles OR
- Breakdown: 3 Cartons + 18 Bottles
Example 2: Three-Level System
๐ฆ Complex Product
Setup:
- 1 Carton = 12 Dozens
- 1 Dozen = 12 Pieces
- Result: 1 Carton = 144 Pieces
Purchase: 3 Cartons
Stock: 3 Cartons = 36 Dozens = 432 Pieces
Sale 1: 150 Pieces
Remaining:
- 2 Cartons + 1 Dozen + 6 Pieces OR
- 282 total Pieces
Sale 2: 1 Dozen
Remaining: 2 Cartons + 0 Dozens + 6 Pieces = 270 Pieces
